Why its called Michigan basketball? The Michigan Wolverines Men’s basketball team is the intercollegiate men’s basketball program. It is representing the University of Michigan.

The Wolverines teams participate in the university competitions organized by the NCAA. They are also a part of the Big 10 Conference and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The university has 27 official teams.

The most successful team is the American football team. This team has won 11 national championships and 42 conference championships. They have participated in 43 Bowls of which they have won 20, including eight Rose Bowl and an Orange Bowl. They have also won a Sugar Bowl. The team plays at home at Michigan Stadium, the second-largest stadium in the world today, with 107,601 spectators.

As for men’s basketball, they won the national championship in 1989 led by Glen Rice. Also were runner-up in 1965, 1976, 1992, 1993 and 2013. Michigan Basketball team had reached in the quarterfinals in 13 seasons. In the early 1990s, the team was popular due to the number of talents that formed it, such as Chris Webber, Jalen Rose or Juwan Howard.

Ice hockey is another success in college, with 9 titles under his belt (1948, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1964, 1996, 1998).

The main rivals of the Michigan Wolverines are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan State Spartans.
